CVSS v3.1 |
| XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability in Terminalfour 8.0.0001 through 8.3.18 and XML JDBC versions up to 1.0.4 allows authenticated users to submit malicious XML via unspecified features which could lead to various actions such as accessing the underlying server, remote code execution (RCE), or performing Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) attacks. |
| HAPI FHIR is a complete implementation of the HL7 FHIR standard for healthcare interoperability in Java. XSLT parsing performed by various components are vulnerable to XML external entity injections. A processed XML file with a malicious DTD tag ( <!DOCTYPE foo [<!ENTITY example SYSTEM "/etc/passwd"> ]> could produce XML containing data from the host system. This impacts use cases where org.hl7.fhir.core is being used to within a host where external clients can submit XML. This is related to GHSA-6cr6-ph3p-f5rf, in which its fix (#1571 & #1717) was incomplete. This issue has been addressed in release version 6.4.0 and all users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability. |
| RAIL documents are an XML-based format invented by Guardrails AI to enforce formatting checks on LLM outputs. Guardrails users that consume RAIL documents from external sources are vulnerable to XXE, which may cause leakage of internal file data via the SYSTEM entity. |
| MSN Password Recovery 1.30 contains an XML external entity injection vulnerability that allows attackers to read local system files through crafted XML input. Attackers can exploit the 'Favorites' tab by injecting a malicious XML file that references external entities to retrieve sensitive system configuration information. |
| SimpleSAMLphp xml-common is a common classes for handling XML-structures. When loading an (untrusted) XML document, for example the SAMLResponse, it's possible to induce an XXE. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.19.0. |
| When the XML is read from the codes in the PDF and parsed using a DocumentBuilder, the default settings of the DocumentBuilder allow for an XXE (XML External Entity) attack. Further information on this can be found on the website of the Open Worldwide Application Security Project (OWASP). An attacker could theoretically leverage this by delivering a manipulated PDF file to the target, and depending on the environment, various actions can be executed. These actions include:
* Reading files from the operating system
* Crashing the thread handling the parsing or causing it to enter an infinite loop
* Executing HTTP requests
* Loading additional DTDs or XML files
* Under certain conditions, executing OS commands |
| unstructured v.0.14.2 and before is vulnerable to XML External Entity (XXE) via the XMLParser. |
| An XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability in HAPI FHIR before v6.4.0 allows attackers to access sensitive information or execute arbitrary code via supplying a crafted request containing malicious XML entities. |
| LocalS3 is an Amazon S3 mock service for testing and local development. Prior to version 1.21, the LocalS3 service's bucket creation endpoint is vulnerable to XML External Entity (XXE) injection. When processing the CreateBucketConfiguration XML document during bucket creation, the service's XML parser is configured to resolve external entities. This allows an attacker to declare an external entity that references an internal URL, which the server will then attempt to fetch when parsing the XML. The vulnerability specifically occurs in the location constraint processing, where the XML parser resolves external entities without proper validation or restrictions. When the external entity is resolved, the server makes an HTTP request to the specified URL and includes the response content in the parsed XML document. This vulnerability can be exploited to perform server-side request forgery (SSRF) attacks, allowing an attacker to make requests to internal services or resources that should not be accessible from external networks. The server will include the responses from these internal requests in the resulting bucket configuration, effectively leaking sensitive information. The attacker only needs to be able to send HTTP requests to the LocalS3 service to exploit this vulnerability. |
| PHPOffice Math is a library that provides a set of classes to manipulate different formula file formats. Prior to version 0.3.0, loading XML data using the standard `libxml` extension and the `LIBXML_DTDLOAD` flag without additional filtration, leads to XXE. Version 0.3.0 fixes the vulnerability. |
| Allure 2 is the version 2.x branch of Allure Report, a multi-language test reporting tool. A critical XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability exists in the xunit-xml-plugin used by Allure 2 prior to version 2.34.1. The plugin fails to securely configure the XML parser (`DocumentBuilderFactory`) and allows external entity expansion when processing test result .xml files. This allows attackers to read arbitrary files from the file system and potentially trigger server-side request forgery (SSRF). Version 2.34.1 contains a patch for the issue. |
| CWE-611: Improper Restriction of XML External Entity Reference vulnerability exists that could
cause information disclosure, impacts workstation integrity and potential remote code execution on the
compromised computer, when specific crafted XML file is imported in the Web Designer configuration tool. |
| The XML document processed in the GMS ECM URL endpoint is vulnerable to XML external entity (XXE) injection, potentially resulting in the disclosure of sensitive information.
This issue affects GMS: 9.3.4 and earlier versions.

| XML Notepad is a Windows program that provides a simple intuitive User Interface for browsing and editing XML documents. Prior to version 2.9.0.21, XML Notepad does not disable DTD processing by default which means external entities are resolved automatically. There is a well known attack related to malicious DTD files where an attacker to craft a malicious XML file that loads a DTD that causes XML Notepad to make outbound HTTP/SMB requests, potentially leaking local file contents or capturing the victim's NTLM credentials. This issue has been patched in version 2.9.0.21. |
| Geonetwork 3.10 through 4.2.0 contains an XML external entity vulnerability in PDF rendering that allows attackers to retrieve arbitrary files from the server. Attackers can exploit the insecure XML parser by crafting a malicious XML document with external entity references to read system files through the baseURL parameter in PDF creation requests. |
| Grav CMS v1.7.x and before is vulnerable to XML External Entity (XXE) through the SVG file upload functionality in the admin panel and File Manager plugin. |
| An issue was discovered in Zimbra Collaboration (ZCS) 10.0 and 10.1. An XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability exists in the Zimbra Exchange Web Services (EWS) SOAP interface due to improper handling of XML input. An authenticated attacker can submit crafted XML data that is processed by an XML parser with external entity resolution enabled. Successful exploitation may allow disclosure of sensitive local files from the server. |
| OpenEMR is a free and open source electronic health records and medical practice management application. Prior to version 8.0.0.3, an authenticated user with access to the Carecoordination module can upload a crafted CCDA document containing `<xi:include href="file:///etc/passwd" parse="text"/>` to read arbitrary files from the server. Version 8.0.0.3 patches the issue. |
| Tolgee is an open-source localization platform. Prior to 3.166.3, the XML parsers used for importing Android XML resources (.xml) and .resx files don't disable external entity processing. An authenticated user who can import translation files into a project can exploit this to read arbitrary files from the server and make server-side requests to internal services. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.166.3. |
| Improper Restriction of XML External Entity Reference vulnerability in XMLUtils.java in Slovensko.Digital Autogram allows remote unauthenticated attacker to conduct SSRF (Server Side Request Forgery) attacks and obtain unauthorized access to local files on filesystems running the vulnerable application. Successful exploitation requires the victim to visit a specially crafted website that sends request containing a specially crafted XML document to /sign endpoint of the local HTTP server run by the application. |
